HUMAN DIGNITY
FOUNDATION PROJECT
The main objective of the project funded by the Human Dignity Foundation was to facilitate refurbishment and construction work at Cheshire Homes India Coorg, to provide a range of rehabilitation, educational and vocational training services to children and young adults with disabilities, and develop local human resources and expertise within the district.
The following activities took place:
- Up gradation of the existing rehabilitation centre, consisting of a physiotherapy and orthotic unit, with appropriate equipment and facilities such as aids and appliances for a range of disabilities. This included construction of three accessible rooms and a toilet. The rooms have accessible features such as wide doors, water and sanitation systems and pathways, as well as attractive colour paintings with strap lines, Braille plates and sign boards to specifically support children with sensory impairments
- Upgrading and equipping the vocational training facilities for young disabled adults. This will also be used as a resource centre for training.
- 50 children with disabilities to access preparatory education every year
- 50 young adults to access vocational training every year
- 200 primary and pre-school teachers to receive training at the centre
- 100 parents to be trained on various techniques that will help them support their disabled child at home

Special Technology Equipment’s for students with disability to enjoy learning
